In the Spring of 2016, I reached out to a Producer that my friend and fellow singer/songwriter, Jeff Desira had recommended to me. His name was Scott Mickelson and he had produced Jeff’s album, ‘Weathervane” which I had heard and loved. So I called him and after a short chat, he asked me to send him a handful of my songs. If he was interested in working with me, he’d let me know.

He let me know.

On May 18th, I made my way to his studio in Mill Valley and we started the journey that would lead to an 11 track LP (yes ... VINYL) called ‘What Am I Afraid Of? The road has been a long and winding one, made a few years longer by our raging pandemic.

This album is in many ways a collaboration with a producer who is also a brilliant songwriter AND who has become a dear friend. Over the years we’ve worked together, he has never heard one of my songs and said,

“Yup. It’s perfect. Let’s start recording.”

​

There has always been a suggestion for a different chord here, or a second verse there, or a bridge, or a different lyric. He has pushed me every step of the way and has made me a much better writer. And for that, I am deeply grateful.

​

My original intention was to release the album in 2020, but I decided that I did not want to make that a Zoom or FB Live or Twitch experience. I’d rather wait for the opportunity to have an actual face-to-face album release show. Maybe even without wearing a mask!

Which is exactly what I did on April 24th, 2022 at The Hotel Utah in San Francisco.  It was an amazing event and video of it will be available soon ...
